Tuesday Sep 11, 2018

We have all Brainstormed
It's a semi-tedious process we all went through in school, or work. Some sort of group project requires that you team up with a group of people, friends, colleagues or strangers, and collaborate to produce a creative peice. It's not our favorite pastime, but it's incredibly effective if done well, and even enjoyable! Today I'm talking about three tips for more effective brainstorming, and a small, back-to-school update.

Do you keep a Journal?
Why not? There are no recorded downsides to journaling! It does sometimes take work, so it can be a bit tricky to maintain a habit of recording your thoughts and ideas, but man is it rewarding, and HELLA important to a creative lifestyle. Today I talk about the benefits of journaling, why you should start with a cheaper notebook, and ideas for some journaling challenges to start the back-to-school autumnal month of September!

"Mindset: the New Psychology of Sucess" by Carol Dweck

Art Therapy - Work & Play
Tuesday Aug 07, 2018
Tuesday Aug 07, 2018
Welcome Back!
The dream is to feel like you never have to work, and that as a professional artist, your passion, your "Play" is its own reward, and you get paid to do it! Well, most of us aren't there yet. SO how do we still fullfill our creative side while working through the monotony? Do we focus on work and delay the play for later, or find a way to blend them together? Today on the show I talk about How having fun can actually IMPROVE your productivity, and the importance of Play as a state of mind. Apologies for missing last week, this is the busiest week of the summer, so sadly a new episode wasn't ready in time.

Today I'll talk about some common themes with Writer's block, the importances of taking a BREAK, and motivating you (hopefully) to get back on the train of thought.

Order or Chaos?
Which one is better for making art? Seems like an odd question but suprisingly applicable. Today I talk about the value of planning in your personality, and debunk the myth of the crazy genuis artist bursting with energy all the time. I also went a little extra with the sound effects so... Enjoy!

Art Therapy - Writing my First Novel
Tuesday Jul 10, 2018
Tuesday Jul 10, 2018
Welcome back, Artists!
Writing a novel can be daunting, but it's not impossible. Sometimes to start a hefty project like bookwriting, you just need a jolt of initiative that gets you from "I want to do this SOMEDAY" to "I'm doing it RIGHT NOW". How about a deadline of 50,000 words in 30 days, at 1,667 words per day? On the podcast, I talk about joining the Nanowrimo buzz, and why you should too!

Art Therapy - Where to Start?
Tuesday Jul 03, 2018
Tuesday Jul 03, 2018
Location, Location...
Location! I don't like the phrase, repeating the word three times doesn't make it more important. BUT, It's true. Where you create is incredibly important to how you create. On the show today, I talk about the affect of geography on your psyche, tips for an organized workspace, and who you surround yourself with.
